MODERN ART-GRAPHIC ARTS-ABSTRACT PAINTING OIL ON CARDBOARD THE CITY ON THE WATER JEAN-ÉMILE PODEVIN20TH CENTURY FRANCE "The city on the water", abstract painted work, oil on cardboard, by the painter and sculptor, Jean-Émile Podevin, who worked throughout his life on the relationship between matter/light/subject/movement. He was friends with Jacques Prévert and Emmanuel Roblès, both writers and poets. He worked mainly on the theme of the sea, water, but also on bullfighting, women and certain countries of the Maghreb (lights, forms, materials and movements therefore). He won a prize at the Salon de Boulogne in the 1960s. Beautiful light for this abstract work framed under glass and white strips, signed lower right, J. Podevin.
