"Punu Statue"
This Punu female statue embodies the elegance and ideal of beauty specific to this culture from southern Gabon. Its white patina (kaolin) punctuated with light red pigments underlines the spiritual and ritual dimension of the work, often associated with protective female spirits. The closed eyes, symbols of introspection or trance, give the figure a meditative appearance. The slightly bent legs and arms stretched along the body reflect a posture of contemplation and serenity.
