"Pair Of Carved Hexagonal Furniture – Asia, Philippines, Circa 1960–1970"
Pair of hexagonal carved solid wood occasional or sofa end tables, made in the Philippines (Southeast Asia) between 1960 and 1970. Each piece of furniture is adorned with six finely carved high-relief panels depicting traditional rural scenes: peasants at work, bamboo houses, tropical vegetation. The upper shelf is also decorated with a carved scene. A discreetly integrated door provides access to an interior storage compartment. Original brass handles. The set is made of dense exotic wood, probably narra, a precious species used in Philippine crafts, with a dark patina that highlights the richness of the decor. Furniture that is both decorative and functional, can be used as sofa ends, columns, or small occasional furniture. 2 glass tops are currently being manufactured and will be placed on the glazing bead in the upper frame. They will obviously be delivered with it. Heavy furniture, approximately 50kg per piece.
