Pair of Louis XVI Chairs, Stamped I. CHENAUX, 18th Century Period. Cabriolet-shaped, they are made of molded walnut and carved with knotted ribbons. They rest on tapered, fluted and rudenté legs. They are both stamped. Jean Nicolas CHENAUX, Lyonnais Carpenter. Jean Nicolas Cheneaux (1734-1820) Seat carpenter, master in 1772, registered by patent. He had his workshop on rue de la Luizerne, then in 1790, place Saint-Pierre and finally in 1808, he was installed on quai Saint-Clair. His production is in the Louis XV style and especially Transition and Louis XVI.
