Charles BARBERIS was a student of Injalbert at the Beaux-Arts in Paris, he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français and at the Société Coloniale and at the Salon d'Automne.
After receiving a scholarship founded for artists by the government of Madagascar, he embarked for the Island in 1922 and returned to France in 1927.
Upon his return, he was entrusted with the execution of the facade of the "Musée des Colonies".
His works were exhibited in 1927 at the Bernheim Jeune gallery.
His travels and sculptures of Madagascar characterize his work; a Winged Victory at Lake Anosy inspired by Antoine Bourdelle remains in Madagascar.
Works are at the Palais de l'Aviation in Meudon, the statue of General Leclerc in Saint Germain en Laye, the War Memorial.
He was awarded the Gold Medal at the 1937 International Exhibition and held the Section of the Academy of Overseas Sciences in 1958.
