Born in Tunis, he studied art there. He lived in Paris between 1926 and 1928 where he took a different artistic approach. In 1929, he returned to Tunis where he participated in the Salon until 1939. Around 1935, he moved towards Cubism; When the civil war in Spain broke out in 1936, he painted "Spain" in 1937 which was at the Center Pompidou.
