Marie Antoinette Boullard-Devé was a portrait painter who became famous for her visions of Indochina, where she lived from 1920. The French government commissioned her first work in 1922 for the Colonial Exhibition in Marseille, and then for Paris in 1931, she covered the Indochina pavilion with a 40-meter-long frieze, which was later divided into sections and deposited at the Musée des Colonies in Paris. Her book "Visions of Indochina" presents lithographs depicting the various populations of the territories then under French rule.
