"E.fromentin, Drawing Of A Centaur, 19th Century"
Charcoal drawing of a centaur, mounted under Marie-Louise and framed. The frame includes a plaque bearing the artist's name, Eugène Fromentin. A red stamp is visible in the lower right part of the drawing; it was affixed during the Fromentin sale, where it appeared under lot number 421. On the back of the work are several labels that testify to its provenance: a label from the Adolphe Beugniet house (art dealer and framer), one from the Bernheim-Jeune gallery, as well as a last one from the Garde-Meuble Nortier. All of these elements contribute to attesting to the authenticity and the historical journey of the work.
Good general condition nevertheless, some traces of wear on the frame.

French painter and writer, Eugène Fromentin is a central figure of Orientalism in the 19th century. He draws his inspiration from several trips to Algeria, which he translates into luminous and poetic scenes of daily life. His work is distinguished by an attention to atmosphere, a mastery of light and a sensitive look at the landscapes and peoples of North Africa.
