"Rare Minton Porcelain Figure Girl In Louis XVI Chair, Shape No.125, Mid 19th Century"
An exceptionally rare
porcelain cabinet figure produced by Minton in the mid-19th century, depicting
a young girl seated in a finely modelled Louis XVI style chair. The model
corresponds to shape No. 125 recorded in the Minton Archive, confirming its authenticity
as an original factory design.
This delicate figure reflects the period when Minton achieved remarkable
artistic refinement in small sculptural porcelain. The modelling is soft and
precise, with a naturally posed figure, finely painted floral dress, and
carefully applied gilding to the chair. Under magnification, the necklace
reveals individually formed links, a detail rarely seen outside the finest
English porcelain work.
The base features the wide flat ring foot with central recess typical of
early Minton figure production. The original factory mark was positioned at the
centre and later deliberately removed, with a small glaze patch applied over
the area, now visible as a distinct spot — a known 19th-century practice for
commercial reasons.
Documented in the Minton Archive and surviving in extremely small
numbers, this model represents a rare opportunity to acquire an early
sculptural design in outstanding condition.

Only a tiny area of gilt loss on the lower rim; otherwise, outstanding

Dimensions:
