"Fireplace Plate With The Coat Of Arms Of Louis XII Dated 1608 (108x49 Cm)"
Renaissance style fireback, 17th century, dated 1608, with the arms of Louis II, 1462-1515, son of Charles 1st Duke of Orléans and Marie de Clèves, grandson of Louis 1st Duke of Orléans and Valentine Visconti, daughter of the Duke of Milan. Crowned King of France under the name of Louis XII in 1498, he married Anne of Brittany whose cipher is present at the bottom of the plaque. Two identical plaques are listed, one in the Orléans museum, see our last photo, and the other in Orléans in the property of the Countess of Orléans. It should be noted that the plinth was removed, probably due to its alteration. Plaque found in Varennes-Vauzelles in the Nievre. Its weight is 60 kg. We present the arms of Louis XII and Anne of Brittany, Hours for the use of Rome, 15th century. Coat of arms: 1 and 4 azure with three golden fleurs-de-lys, surmounted by a silver label (Orléans). 2 and 3 silver with a wurm azure, crowned gold, undulating, in pale, engulfing a child of carnation in fess (Milan-Visconti).
