"Large Sculpture Of Deplechin " Eve In The Garden Of Eden""
A large sculpture depicting an allegory of Eve in the Garden of Eden by sculptor Valentin Eugène Deplechin (Roubaix 1852 - Thiais 1926). A student of Delaplanche, he attended the École des Beaux-Arts in Lille and Paris. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1873 to 1901. His travels in Europe and North Africa drew inspiration and a taste for Antiquity. Some of his works can be seen in Algeria, the Barcelona Museum, the Château d'Engrain, New York, and Lille. This bronze, signed and dated 1887 on the base, has a beautiful patina, with the assembly visible on the right arm.
