Unique andprecious lost-wax bronze sculpture. Entitled "Marching Soldiers," itdepicts two marching soldiers, their legs apart, wearing the distinctive helmetof a World War II infantry regiment, a rifle resting on their back, and a capebillowing in the wind, positioned on a rectangular base. The sculpture istypically Futurist, an expression of an avant-garde movement, with evidentinfluences from Cubism and Surrealism, with a quest for three-dimensionalitythat reflects the dynamism and energy of the modern world, known as"plastic dynamism." It is in excellent condition, with the artist'smonogram "D. B." on the back leg, allowing it to be attributed to theVenetian artist Renato Di Bosso (1905-1982), a leading exponent of Futurism, heavily influenced by the works of Boccioni.
