The first painting includes a large viola da gamba, a terrestrial globe, a bowl with lemons and snails, and a framed scene showing characters in costume—one playing music and another dancing in 18th-century attire. The second canvas features an open harpsichord with sheet music, a baroque table clock, a vibrant red parrot, a large crown, and a rich fruit arrangement.
These works reflect the Lombard still-life tradition, which—starting with Evaristo Baschenis—developed a pictorial language focused on the detailed rendering of musical instruments and symbolic objects, with a strong sense of theatricality.
The paintings have been restored and relined, and are in good condition. The frames are antique (not original), adapted and gilded in imitation gold.
