Cavalry pistol, called a chest pistol, of the Model 1777, first type, that is to say equipped with the belt hook.
The breech tail does not bear the name of the model, which will only appear on weapons of this type from 1781.
Lock engraved St Etienne, hallmarked with the L under the crown of the controller of the locks Etienne Lambert (in charge from 1777 to 1784). Cap struck with the J under the crown of the reviser of the fittings Javelle (in charge from 1777 to 1784).
On the counter-lock side, the wood is dated 7bre 1780, date of reception of the finished weapon, and bears the initial A of the inspector Argout (in charge from 1777 to 1781) and the B with the fleur-de-lis of the controller of the finished weapon Boulanger (in charge from 1763 to 1784).
