Rare model 1837 Navy pistol of the 1st Type, that is to say without grip flange (modification, which was made later to strengthen it) and without sighting elements. It is quite difficult to find unmodified 1837 Navy pistols since many broke in combat due to their congenital fragility.
Rear plate marked Mre Rle de Tulle, for Manufacture Royale de Tulle, hallmarked with the L in an oval of Martin Luzier controller in Tulle from 1820 to 1839.
Smoothbore barrel without sighting elements. Breech tail marked Mle 1837. Right side of the breech dated 1839 and hallmarked Luzier and Left side hallmarked LC Right side of the barrel hallmarked C in an oval and left side hallmarked P and serial number. Stirrup ramrod. War chimney.
All fittings are hallmarked C under crown of the 2nd controller Charlier in Tulle until 1830. Cap stamped with the naval anchor and marked MR for Marine Royale. Walnut mount.
This weapon is in near mint condition. All hallmarks are consistent and very fresh.
