A rare and finely modelled pair of antique Frenchporcelain musician figures, produced in Paris by Bloch & Sie (later knownas Bourdois & Bloch)between 1887 and 1900. Each figure stands on aRococo-style base with moulded scrollwork and floral elements, hand-paintedwith gilt highlights.                                                                                                                                                   The male figure carries adrum (one stick missing, the other broken), while the female figure is posedbeside a harp with replaced strings. Both faces are delicately painted withexpressive features, and the overall execution is typical of the high standardsassociated with the Parisian porcelain revival of the late 19th century.                                                                                                          Bloch & Sie were leading makers of Rococo revival porcelain duringthe Belle Époque, producing decorative works that combined 18th-centurystylistic influence with late 19th-century craftsmanship. Their pieces are nowconsidered collectible representations of post-Sèvres French porcelain.                                                                                                                                       Themale figure bears the underglaze blue crossed-line mark on the reverse, whilethe female figure is marked underneath the base - the registered factory markof Bloch & Sie, Paris.               Froma gentleman’s collection.Condition: one drumstick missing, the other broken;replaced harp strings; minor flower losses.
