"Songye Kifwebe Mask"
Initiation mask of the Songye of Congo. Called "Kifwebe" (mask), it is a female mask, it has a prognate mouth and a cubic nasal bridge, two arc-shaped eyes highlighted in black, with a slight crest, also black, separating the skull in two. Finally, there is a black triangular motif to represent the chin while the rest of the mask is entirely striped in white. The object has two restorations, a metal staple consolidates a crack on the right side and a filling is present on the right part of the mouth. The object is authentic, it comes from the collection of C. Davoigneau (Toulouse), it's old from first middle of 20
th century.
