"Late 19th Century Bronze Sculpture Portrait Of Mozart "
Beautiful
lost-wax cast bronze sculpture depicting a young Mozart. The famous composer
and musician is depicted wearing typical eighteenth-century clothing, wearing
trousers, boots, a bodice and a knee-length jacket, as can be seen and noted in
his most famous portraits. The hair is gathered in what is the traditional wig,
while the gaze is focused on the violin he is playing; the latter has an iron
string in the bow. The sculpture is mounted on a bronze base, on the front of
which is the inscription “Mozart”, which identifies the subject of the work. On
the same base you can also read the inscription “Chiparus Lamant”, probably
attributable to the sculptor and the foundry. French manufacture from the late
nineteenth century.
