Clock "threatening Love" Watchmaker: Vincenti 1855
A very fine, high-quality Napoleon III period clock signed on the
mechanism plate "Médaille d'argent, Vincenti et Cie 1855,"
corresponding to the date this series of mechanisms began production.
Listed in the Tardy dictionary of French clockmakers.
The structure is composed of white quarry marble, a solid base, a finely fluted half-moon ornamented with finely chiseled gilt bronze garlands and falling flowers, a thick outline of laurel leaves, and a ribbon highlighting the domed white enamel dial decorated with colored paint and accompanied by fine gilt hands; the whole is protected by domed glass.
At the top rests a very expressive sculpture on the well-known theme of threatening love, after the sculptor Falconnet.
Original mechanism without modification, wire suspension, striking on the hours and half-hours on an antique bell.
