"Pair Of Gilt Bronze And Cloisonné Enamel Candlesticks, Napoleon III Style, Late 19th Century"
Refined pair of gilt bronze and cloisonné enamel candlesticks, typical of the eclectic taste of the Napoleon III style. The decoration features stylized geometric motifs with radiating symmetry, made in cloisonné enamel on a midnight blue background, in shades of light blue, ivory and gold. The slender shafts, the circular compartmentalized base and the flared bobèches testify to the expertise of French bronze and enamel makers around 1880. This type of ornamentation is part of a historicist aesthetic mixing neo-Renaissance influences and stylized oriental inspirations. Very good condition, enamel in excellent condition. Decorative collector's item. Height: 18 cm
