Charming rectangular box in exotic wood decorated with a rich mother-of-pearl inlay depicting flowers, butterflies and birds. Each side is finely hand-ornamented, in a delicate style characteristic of Vietnam (Hue) or Southern China circa 1880–1900. The lid features a central floral composition in an oval frame highlighted with geometric angles. Brass hinges and lock (key missing). Raw interior, with old traces of use.
