"Pair Of Art Deco Bookends – Spelter Deer With Antique Green Patina "
Superb pair of Art Deco bookends from the 1930s, representing two stylized deer in spelter with a beautiful antique green patina. The work of the muscular volume and the antlers is particularly careful, typical of the geometric and dynamic aesthetic of this period. The sculptures rest on massive bases in veined black marble, ensuring stability and elegance. Probably French or Belgian work, unsigned, but in the spirit of the creations of Le Verrier, Limousin or Menneville. Dimensions (each bookend): Height: 23 cm Length: 25 cm Depth: 9 cm Condition: Very good general condition. Note: a small chip of patina on one of the deer's antlers (visible in the photos), without affecting the solidity or elegance of the whole.
