Important bronze group with brown patina , entitled "Pro Patria" , representing "Vercingetorix" , King of the Gauls , his hand on his son's shoulder , by the sculptor Emile-Louis Laporte (1858-1907) .
The two characters remain faithful to the classical representation of the hero .
They appear standing , in a victorious pose , their fixed gazes reflect their determination and their bravery .
Their muscles are prominent , they are armed with a spear , an axe and a sword .
Vercingetorix has abundant hair , a drooping moustache , soft and tight-fitting medieval-style breeches , and his famous winged helmet .
Bronze group signed "E.LAPORTE" on the richly chiseled rectangular terrace .
Bronze dated "84" and stamped "6050" .
Old edition sculpture , second period Part of the 19th century .
Very good state of conservation and patina .

Famous French sculptor and medalist .
A student of the sculptors Gabriel-Jules Thomas , Augustin Dumont , Jean-Marie Bonnassieux and Louis-Ernest Barrias at the School of Fine - Arts in Paris , he exhibited his work at the Salon of French Artists from 1881 .
His participation in the Salon of French Artists from 1881 to 1905 earned him numerous awards from 1883 onwards .
He received an honorable mention in 1883 , a third medal in 1885 , a travel grant in 1886 , a second medal in 1897, and a silver medal in 1900 at the Universal Exhibition .
Rewarded , he became a member of the Salon Society in 1888 .
He died in Paris on January 30 , 1907.
