A bronze sculpture with a brown patina , depicting a walking deer , by the animal sculptor Pierre-Jules Mêne (1810–1879) .
This iconic work stands out for its striking realism and illustrates the sculptor’s exceptional mastery in the field of animal representation .
Pierre - Jules Mêne , whose career was marked by a passion for wildlife and meticulous attention to detail , succeeds in capturing the very essence of this elegant deer .
Pierre-Jules Mêne’s animal bronzes are all flawlessly rendered in a realistic style and depicted with artistic authenticity and anatomical precision that will stand the test of time .
The sculptor uses a variety of techniques to depict different elements , such as the deer’s soft coat or the roughness of the surrounding surfaces , this contributes to a striking realism and allows the viewer to sense the texture of the material .

Although the stag is an animal , Pierre-Jules Mêne manages to infuse a certain expressiveness into its gaze and posture .
