"Iridescent Glass - Roman Period "
Small iridescent glass of dark green color, with a globular body and a widened cylindrical neck ending in a thick, everted lip. The irregularity of the surface, partially covered with a natural iridescent patina with golden, purple and blue-green reflections, testifies to its antiquity and to the phenomenon of alteration of Roman glass buried for centuries.
This type of bottle was commonly used to contain perfumed oils, ointments or cosmetics. It illustrates the expertise of Roman glassmakers in the manufacture of refined utilitarian objects.
Approximate height: 6 cm
Origin: Probably eastern Mediterranean basin, in the artisanal tradition of Roman glass workshops active between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD.
