Object description :

"Large Aubusson Carpet With Garland And Landscape Views – 19th Century"
Sumptuous carpet woven at the Aubusson factory in the 19th century, in the sumptuous taste of the Grand Siècle revisited under Napoleon III. The composition is centered around a radiant medallion adorned with a basin overflowing with stylized foliage, framed by rich floral garlands and acanthus scrolls in pastel tones. Two rectangular cartouches, located at the ends of the carpet, depict landscapes animated by small castles or idealized buildings, evoking bucolic scenes. The dominant tones – beige, celadon blue, powder pink and gold – give the whole a classic and luminous elegance. The border with rows of ovals underlines the balance of the composition in a perfectly mastered decorative harmony. A high-quality carpet, both decorative and emblematic of the refinement of Aubusson productions in the 19th century, ideal for a reception room or a characterful interior. Very good condition, it was previously used as a tapestry. Dimensions: Height 360 cm Width 270 cm
