"Table Easel, Art Nouveau Style"
This impressive table easel is a typical example of the graceful, floral style that was gaining popularity throughout Europe on the eve of the First World War. This unique object probably comes from Belgium and belongs to the geometric Art Nouveau style inspired by the Vienna Secession. After drawing inspiration from nature by applying organic and asymmetrical forms, Art Nouveau came to the fore in the early years of the 20th century. In contrast to the Brussels architect Victor Horta (1861-1947), Paul Hankar (1859-1901) and his followers applied a geometric style inspired by Austrian Art Nouveau. The motifs became more restrained and sometimes even abstract. Another characteristic of this style is the fan shape inspired by Japanese art. Condition: This piece is in good condition with normal signs of wear. The screws on the back have been renewed.
