"Mempo Samurai Half Mask - Edo Period (1603 - 1868)."
JAPAN - Edo period (1603-1868). Samurai half-mask called "MEMPO" in wrought iron. Pronounced chin, movable nose, visible and gilded teeth, pierced nostrils, sweat hole under the chin. Finely hemmed upper border. Red lacquered interior. YODARE-KAKE (gorget) with five degrees in black lacquered leather and metal (slight losses) and alternating blue and white silk. Beautiful expression for this mempo with its original cutout and very marked wrinkles. Dimensions: 24 x 17 cm. Sold with its base. Dimensions with the base: 41 x 17 cm.
