Forced Labor In Corozo
We present this superb corozo nut snuffbox, symbolizing a grognard who has been decked out in a bicorne like Napoleon. He carries his haversack on his back, this snuffbox is in very good condition with a sublime patina. These corozo works arrived by boat at the port of Toulon and were sold so that sailors could bring back basic necessities during a future trip to Cayenne, if I say this it is because one of my unfortunately deceased relatives had an engraving relating this and I saw it with my own eyes. This engraving is certainly still the property of his widow who is still alive, thank God. From personal collection. Weight 43 gr (E25)
