"Bronze Clock, Signed G.philippe Palais Royal – 1870"
This gilt bronze clock features a delicately chiseled bronze dial adorned with enamel Roman numerals for the hours and graduated Arabic numerals for the minutes. The movement is signed on its plate by the watchmaker "G.Philippe at 66 and 67 Palais Royal" listed in the Tardy, a true bible of the profession. This meticulously crafted piece is topped with a cup containing the eternal flame. The sides feature lion muzzle carrying rings. The movement cylinder is supported by acanthus leaf consoles. The whole rests on a stepped base of rectangular section.
