High Sideboard With The Coat Of Arms Of Clement XIII - Circa 1760

Our buffet or liturgical furniture is made of lacquered, gilded and silvered wood. It opens with a richly painted leaf of an angel bearing the arms of Pope Clement XIII. The angel in soft colors surmounts a cartouche in the name of this same head of the Church, bearing a motto "Clement XIII, Peter Omnipotens Misericors"
The whole is framed with baroque foliate fillets on a beige background and painted faux marble.
An Italian work around 1760. Usual restorations and modifications.
Some missing parts including the key. Dimensions of 108 cm by 97 and 41 cm deep. Comes with a modern counter-base 8.5 cm high.
Clement XVIII was born in Venice in 1693. Pope in 1758, he died in Rome in 1769. In opposition to Louis XV, he supported the Jesuit order. Without lasting success, because the king had them expelled from the kingdom in 1764.
