"Empire Period Chariot Clock"
Empire period clock representing a cupid on a chariot pulled by butterflies. Gilt bronze with its original gilding. Dial signed "Galle rue Vivienne in Paris" In perfect working order, restored movement. Claude Galle: (1759-1815) One of the most eminent bronze makers of the late Louis XVI and Empire periods. He supplied the majority of the furniture bronzes to the Chateau de Fontainebleau but also for the palaces of Saint Cloud, the Tuieleries, Compiègne, Rambouillet etc.....
