Four-wheeled, single-seat car with front-mounted gearshift with two levers (one on each side, one for brakes and one for movement) and a front-mounted acetylene headlight. The front axle is foot-operated for turning. It is very similar to the vehicles known as the Irish Mail, which were derived from the wagons used on the tracks for railway construction and maintenance. Another theory is that these wagons, especially when not in track use, were called the Irish Mail. See, for example, the children's copies in the AC McClurg and Co. catalog, another company's 1938 Irish Mail Deluxe Racer, or the 1920 Ben Hur Racer Irish Mail handcar. -
