Oval Miniature, 1792, Man In Suit
Artist: école Allemande
Oval miniature, painted on the traditional support of miniatures, portrait of a man in prime of life, a notable, in a troubled period, 1792, the date when National Assembly abolished Royalty in France….
It is however likely that this miniature and this costume are German, design of the number 7 of the date suggests it.
Painted of dotted lines on a fairly thick plate, in good condition, without flaws on painted surface, the miniature is indeed 18th, monogrammed RAI, it was framed during 19th century under curved glass, guilloché brass border with folded teeth on back, old cardboard, I placed, as was done at period, a "tinsel" (modern) to bring out details and transparencies.
Dimensions: 6.5cm x 5.5cm.
Condition: good, no visible flaws,
