François Thomas Germain : Rare Sterling Silver Platter Paris 1763 - Alliance Coat Of Arms
Prestigious and extremely rare round Dish / Platter in solid silver by François-Thomas GERMAIN. The platter is a fillets contours model with the rim engraved with the Coat of Arms of Alliance under Count's Crown (the one on the right are those of the MEZAN de MALARTIC Family, those of the husband on the left remain to be identified). Charge and Discharge Hallmarks for PARIS 1762-68, Hallmark of the Jurande for PARIS 1763 (Crowned Z) and Hallmark of the prestigious Master Goldsmith François-Thomas GERMAIN (Hallmark with crowned Fleur-de-lis, two grains, his initials "FTG" and a fleece) received in 1748, and who was from the beginning the Goldsmith of King Louis XV. This prestigious Louis XV period platter by the eminent Francois-Thomas GERMAIN is in very good condition and remarkably hallmarked, micro-scratches of use.
