The scene is treated in a realistic manner, with a clean line. This is probably the original of an illustration dedicated to a book. The work is in very good condition. It is placed under a mat and under glass, framed with a golden baguette. It is signed in pencil at the bottom left.
This work was created by Claude Chopy, a French illustrator, born in 1916 and died in 1995. He specialized in book illustration and worked for various prestigious editions. He notably illustrated Letters from My Windmill by Alphonse Daudet, Rebecca by Daphné du Maurier, The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas.
He worked mainly in watercolor and produced color illustrations, often reproduced outside the text in luxury editions. His works demonstrate great technical finesse, particularly visible in his nature and hunting scenes.
