"Large Abelam Baba Mask Papua New Guinea"
Large Abelam mask, Baba Papua New Guinea H. 60 cm. Mask representing a stylized bird, made of a particularly fine openwork braid. The eyes which are repeated several times indicate the clairvoyance capacity of the mask, nothing can be hidden from it! A median crest divides the face into two parts, there are some traces of black polychromy, some small accidents without gravity. This mask was used to frighten the uninitiated during certain ceremonies, it is particularly beautiful!
