Kinkozan Satsuma Bowl, Roosters & Mt. Fuji, Meiji, Orig. Stand, Museum Quality
A rare Meiji-period Satsuma bowl by Kinkozan (Kyoto), circa 1900, of lobed form with superb hand-painted decoration: rooster family and chicks beneath richly enameled chrysanthemums, with Mount Fuji beyond. Exceptional detail in gold moriage, polychrome enamels, and a beautifully executed border. The exterior displays panels of wisteria and geometric motifs.
Signed with Kinkozan mark to the base; supplied with what appears to be its original carved wood stand. Condition: No chips, cracks, or repairs; only the lightest gilding wear and typical fine craquelure.
Comparable Kinkozan examples are held in the V&A, Ashmolean, and regularly feature in Bonhams auctions.
