Empire Style Gilt Bronze Box With Medallion Of Emperor Napoleon
Octagonal in shape, this 19th century gilt bronze box is in pure Empire style and for good reason, the lid is decorated with a medallion representing the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in profile in relief. The laurel frieze on the edge of the lid has a small lack probably dating from the time of its manufacture which is in the second half of the 19th century. The uprights are also decorated with a laurel frieze accompanied by alternating crowns and quivers, its interior is lined with a green velvet fabric.
