This set of six armchairs, Carimate model, was designed in the 1960s by the Italian designer Vico Magistretti and then produced by Cassina. They are composed of a four-legged beech log structure. The backrest, also in beech, is slightly curved for greater comfort, with a fabric seat by Fritz Hansen.
Born in 1920 and deceased in 2006, designer Vico Magistretti would have been 100 years old in 2020. To celebrate this anniversary, Fritz Hansen is reissuing the Carimate, an essential icon of Italian design. While respecting the original design, the Danish manufacturer brings its Scandinavian sensibility to the chair.
A champion of formal purity, Vico Magistretti never stopped inventing an absolute and lasting design. Carimate reflects the great Italian designer's attraction to strong and majestically balanced geometric volumes. Its pure and uncluttered form is enhanced with subtle details. Combining wood and natural straw weaving, the Carimate armchair was created in 1959 by Vico Magistretti for a golf club located in Lombardy.
For the sake of sustainability, Fritz hansen has decided to use environmentally friendly materials in this new edition. Our model was published by Cassina in the 1960s. The original model had a straw seat, replaced by a fabric seat on ours, more comfortable and durable and less fragile for daily use. They will bring a lot of charm to your dining room and can be combined with all styles of dining tables: glass top, marble, wood, etc. They have a timeless classic design.
Reupholstered, seats entirely in their original 1960s condition, fabric seat cushions which replace the original wickerwork but the rest is entirely original and authentic from Cassina
