Beautiful Dogon maternity, hard and light wood (honey color), height 45 cm, base, beautiful patina of use. The austere and hieratic air, it is the authoritarian, powerful and dignified mother who is represented here, the child is barely sketched, for the sculptor it is secondary, it is not the subject of the work! Note also the very geometric, cubist construction of the face and the body with the breasts which come to protect the child on him and form a square with the arms, like the legs, the child takes up the same construction as his mother, it is indeed the same lineage.
