The Bordeaux chest of drawers is easily recognizable by its rounded tomb-like shape.
The front and the uprights form a characteristic curved S-shaped line. Its style is inspired by the Regency and Louis XV without excess.
As with the majority of port furniture, the structure is made of solid mahogany. The many shipwrights used this exotic wood imported from the colonies and used in particular as ballast for ships. There are also Bordeaux chests of drawers of the same shape using native woods like walnut or cherry."
