Bronze door plaque from a palace in the Kingdom of Benin, Nigeria, early 20th century. It depicts the king with two captive subjects with chains around their necks. Cast using the lost-wax method, they depict, like picture books, important and glorifying events related to the Obas and were nailed to the walls of palaces.
