This is a piece of high-quality cabinet-making made in Rome in the second half of the 17th century and originally conceived for an important client of the Roman aristocracy. Furniture of this importance is difficult to find today and is a true manufacturing unicum.
This furniture is characterized by a splendid walnut root with which the entire piece of furniture is lined: the front, the sides, the drawers of the dresser, the doors and all the drawers of the coin cabinet. The double-body finely rooted in walnut is characterized by the sumptuous games of root and maple wood inlays, framed by carved moldings on the doors and drawers. In addition, it has carved twisted semi-columns that allow us to lead the production period to the last quarter of the seventeenth century in the Louis XIV period. The particular and imposing cymatium also contains a drawer and has ebony wood inserts, which act as curls to the elegant curves of the piece of furniture.
The central part of the coin cabinet that includes a spacious niche has a secret compartment at the bottom, the opening of which was to be activated by extracting a drawer of the coin cabinet, but unfortunately it was closed internally.
The state of conservation is truly exceptional, perfect both in its shiny patina that emphasizes the games of root and in the entire structure. It is in fact perfect in every part and has all the original drawer and drawer linings! The same goes for the all antique ironwork and some bronze inserts with masks and Medusa head are of excellent workmanship and original.
The measurements are: 134cm wide x 64cm deep x 109cm of the lower cabinet and 120cm of the riser including the cymatium. for a total of 229cm.
