Italian Oratory Furniture in Walnut, Early 18th Century.

A typical piece of furniture found in palaces in Italy, in beautiful Italian residences.
Still in the spirit of the high period, this small piece of furniture dates from the beginning of the 18th century.
Quite rustic in design, it is nonetheless very decorative.
The walnut is superb, a warm blond with a very beautiful waxed patina.
Trapezoidal in shape, it consists of a main body opening with a drawer and a molded door on the front.
The top of a walnut board molded with a beak of corbin surmounts a frieze of serrated piastres and comes to cap the main body.
That is to say, the molded drawer and decorated with a wooden pull knob with a typically Italian assembly inside which is also made of fir.
The drawer surmounts a beautiful walnut ingot mold surmounting the part containing the molded door decorated in its center with a walnut pull knob.
we find in a geometric spirit molded reserves on each side of this door.
the main body rests on a space forming a molded storage chest and opening thanks to a flap. a low molding completes the whole.
this piece of furniture rests on two sabot feet at the front in the manner of cassones.
the rear feet are slightly retracted. the shelf is in fir as is the interior of the drawer and the backs of the furniture which are original.
no major restoration to report, those of use and maintenance only as well as a preventive treatment with xylophene even if this piece of furniture is not attacked.
