Refined and elegant chryselephantine Art Deco sculpture depicting a semi-nude Amazon in full gallop, hunting on horseback.
The piece masterfully combines precious materials: finely carved ivory for the female figure, with delicate and expressive features, and patinated bronze for the powerful steed, rendered with remarkable anatomical detail and sculptural strength. The shaped onyx base, faceted with elegance, adds balance and prestige to the ensemble, perfectly in line with the luxurious aesthetic of the 1920s.
The model is attributed to the renowned Viennese sculptor Bruno Zach (May 6, 1891 – February 20, 1935), famous for his bold and sophisticated female figures, and is documented in his official catalogue. This work fully embodies the spirit of 1920s Vienna, at the height of the Art Deco movement, blending eroticism, strength, and grace in a composition of striking visual impact.
The sculpture is in excellent condition, showcasing a beautiful, original patina rich in tones and depth. A possible loss of the spear tip is noted, without compromising the overall harmony and reading of the piece.
