"Oil On Canvas By Gustave Brion: Landscape Of The Causses"
In Strasbourg, Gustave Brion was a student of the sculptor André Friederich and the painter Gabriel-Christophe Guérin. Settling in Paris, he joined the studio of Charles Gleyre. He founded a studio at 70-70 bis, rue Notre-Dame-des-Champs, the place having the nickname of "Tea Box". He is one of Hippolyte Pradelles's masters. Far from the Alsatian genre scenes, Gustave Brion shows himself in this work to be a delicate landscape painter. Stamp of the studio sale at the bottom right. Sale which took place in 3 sessions on December 20-21-22, 1877.
