This 19th-century circular reliquary holds a 1st Class Relic (Ex Ossibus) of:
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga – Jesuit and Patron Saint of Youth
The relic is centrally embedded within the theca, surrounded by fine gold-threaded decorations in a floral motif and mounted over a silk background. It is labeled with a manuscript in Latin: S. Aloisii Gonz. The theca is sealed with a convex glass.
The reverse of the reliquary displays an intact red wax episcopal seal, along with red silk threads, which assure the authenticity of the relic’s ecclesiastical origin. These elements remain undisturbed, affirming the relic’s preserved and original condition.
Saint Aloysius Gonzaga (1568–1591) was an Italian Jesuit who renounced nobility to dedicate his life to Christ. He died nursing plague victims in Rome and was canonized in 1726. He is recognized as the patron saint of young students and Jesuit novices.
