"The Tower of Porto in Piana in Corsica"
Oil on canvas,
Signed lower right,
Countersigned and titled by the artist on the back of the canvas: "Porto Corsica - Pierre Bach",
Beautiful work with strong contrast by the Corsican painter Pierre Bach which represents a view of the rocks and the Genoese Tower of Sia in the hamlet of Porto in Piana in Corsica.
This Genoese Tower is one of the four square towers of Corsica.
Born in Toul in Meurthe et Moselle, Pierre Bach settled in 1929 in Erbalunga in Corsica. He shared his studio with his friend, the photographer Joseph Moretti. A student at the Ecole des Beaux-arts in Nancy, the artist fully blossomed when he arrived in Corsica. He paints with a knife the beauty of his sites: his villages, his mountain and sea landscapes, his vegetation, ... with a lively painting.
From 1930 to 1933, he participated in the Salon des Artistes Indépendants. He exhibited frequently in the galleries of Ajaccio and in North Africa.
His works are kept in many French and foreign museums as well as in private collections.
Dimensions: 27.5 x 41 cm without frame and 40.5 x 55 cm with its original wooden frame.
