Beautiful work with strong contrast by the Avignon painter Gustave Vidal which represents a rare view of Bréda and the Old Mill at Allevard les Bains in the department of Isère.
You can notice on the right the old mill, now transformed into a restaurant, on the road and discharging water into Bréda.
The artist was able to perfectly transcribe the atmosphere of the place by playing on the nuances of colors, the contrasts and the thickness of the material to bring his work to life.

Student at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Avignon under the direction of the painter Pierre Grivolas who will encourage his students including Gustave Vidal to go painting outdoors. He will be under the influence of the new school of Avignon and the abstract painters.
His own style combines knife technique and pictorial stylization. He won numerous awards from his beginnings, and exhibited throughout the world.

Dimensions: 50 x 65 cm without frame and 78 x 63 cm with its original wooden frame.
